Marriage appears wonderfully endearing to the single individual who has never married, and maybe to the divorced person who hankers for something to arrest their longing for companionship or sexual release, but marriage for practically all of us is fairly a hard function at times. (And I can say this even as a representative of my wife!). We carry so significantly of ourselves into our marriages – which is both a great and a undesirable issue.
We deliver in expectations of being ‘met’ by our partners: that they will satisfy us sexually, not devote as well much cash, not seek out to manage us, that they will want to commit time with us. We also deliver in expectations of what our partners should carry to us: their virtues of diligence and moderation and sanctity and kindness – to title just four. We are disappointed when they don’t measure up to our previously unconscious expectations – that have now turn into aware due to our encroaching annoyance.
Can A Marriage Be Saved After Both Have Cheated
So what exactly does it mean to be loving and kind? Well at the most basic level, for a marriage that is really hurting, start by being civil with one another. Be decent, don’t yell or call names. From there you should move into being kind and loving.
Having a healthy marital relationship means giving up ego and being resolved to solve your particular conflicts. You have to be committed to staying together and working it out. You also have to be objective and look at your relationship as an outsider, so you can see what the real problems may be.
This is the kind of pressure that our society is putting on married people who have issues that could still be repairable, but who might just give up. In the end, for many people, divorce is an easier solution than reconciliation. However, what if you discovered that it is really the other way around? Divorce is not as easy of a process as some would want you to believe.
So why is it that when things get tough, or we find a problem too difficult to handle, we change the rules and back out on our commitment?. You made a promise. Your spouse made a promise. Now simply agree to stick to that promise. If you do, you will have no choice but to work through whatever difficulties come your way. Go against the flow of society that tends to throw things away without a second thought.
The 90/10 Principle, This is why we talk about the 90/10 principle of relationships. Ninety percent of the upset, hurt, emotion and reactivity we experience in our marriage is actually related to our history. Only ten percent is related to the present event. Some theorists even argue that 100 percent of “reactivity” is related to the past.
It can result both to act illogically and do things that will even worsen the weak situation. It can prove a real challenge, but it is really important to make continuous endeavor to think rationally, stay calm and speak rationally.
Difficulties In Love Marriage
Think about the good times in your marriage and those times when the marriage were able to survive the difficult trials. If you have survived the previous conflicts in your marriage, you can also survive your current problems in your marriage.
These differences may lead to schisms and disagreements which may even result in confrontations, arguments and fights. Therefore in any successful relationship, conflict resolution is an essential trait. Good conflict resolution skills may very well save your marriage. But there is an enemy of good conflict resolution within each one of us.
This may involve some major changes to your lifestyle, and saving your marriage may involve you changing jobs, changing neighborhoods, or even changing cities in order to leave your past behind. You must be prepared to do this!.
He will emotionally withdraw from me in return, and in time, with several small “incidents” between us, we begin to complain to others, spend more time alone, or worse yet, start spending time with a person of the opposite sex that seems to “understand” us so much better.
Take some things personally. Sometimes you do need to hear what your spouse has to say. Don’t ignore important feedback your spouse is giving you. Honor Your Commitment – For the majority of us, when we got married, we took vows that said we would stay together through thick and thin, good times and bad, sickness and health, for richer or poorer….and we meant them.
Why should you be one of them? You can avoid most pitfalls with the right information and save yourself a lot of unnecessary heartache simply by being informed, so, consider reading books that deal with this issue or consulting a relationship expert, who might be able to point out to you exactly what you are doing wrong and how you can fix it.
Be completely honest. Admit wrongs without blame-shifting. Don’t counter accuse by saying, “I admit I was wrong in the first place but you were wrong in the second place also”. Leave out the ‘but’ part.
Another obstacle to counseling success is when one of the spouses has some sort of a drug or alcohol problem, and is unwilling to change. In fact, a general unwillingness to accept any responsibility for problems in the relationship will make it very difficult for a counselor to help.
There are basically two reactions towards anything that displeases a person. Some people blow up. They may shout, scream, rant or rave and after they have done so, they cool down and return to normal. Others on the other hand, keep their anger or bitterness inside them by clamming up. They may display their displeasure in their faces or body language but they would not vocalize it or act on it there and then.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can turn things around. If I could do it, so can you. A year ago I was miserable shadow of human being. Endless conflicts in my relationship were bringing me down, my self-esteem was at its lowest and I was constantly in the bad mood.
They can’t figure out what to do differently. Most of the time people don’t know how to successfully communicate and productively solve problems together. This is one reason why 75% of all new marriages end up either in separation or divorce, or unhappily staying wed.
In every case it was an incremental change over time, the moment of peace, joy and content didn’t simply occur in an instant. To feel better start by feeling better. Again reflect on those positive events when feeling most alive and fulfilled. Does that conjure up positive feelings from the past? Focus on that joy and content, shifting attention away from what isn’t right about the current situation.
Commitment in a marriage is a choice by one or both partners. Hopefully both will agree on this and always maintain that spirit. If communication has broken down and negative behaviors have crept in to the relationship then some work will need to be done in order to revive the marriage.

If you are already married, and are experiencing conflict that could have been avoided had a plan been laid out, remember that it’s never to late to put a plan together from that point on. Of course both parties will have to acknowledge and agree to this, and there has to be some level of trust still existent.
Is true only in the sense that we cannot consciously choose to feel any given emotion at a certain time. Emotions “happen” while we are engaged in life. While they can be understood intelligently and rationally, they cannot be “turned on” by choice.
Each positive moment will help you feel a little better until you return to and exceed your previous joy, content and peace. It is a cumulative and incremental process. Is your day just awful? Are you in such a negative place that you don’t see anything positive? Look at someone else and find something they do well and complement them.
